Think Inclusion; Not Diversity: An Interactive Brain Splatter Session on Making San Diego Tech Succeed in Toto

"Diversity is being invited to the Party; Inclusion is Being Asked to Dance" - Vernã Myers, Esq.,

Diversity is used in almost every conversation regarding tech; not enough women, not enough people of color, not enough of something else. Yet being invited not always means you have a voice at the table. Inclusion is a more powerful word that encapsulates that if you make everyone welcome, you will attract everyone, and they in turn can add more to the conversation.

In this interactive session, we will be writing on the walls, literally; thoughts, ideas, goals, solutions, and a wishlist of what can be. We will have several moderators who will be reading questions from the audience as well as some questions sent in prior to the event. This is an INCLUSIVE event - to truly create an Inclusion Manifesto at the end of the evening, we need all voices. We need your voice. Men and Women. After the session, we will be scribing all the words and phrases into a report on how to make inclusion as common a word at a startup as craft brew and ping pong. What you'll need: an open mind, Sharpies, and a willingness to learn and teach.
